Google’s “Chirp” Could be the Next Big Voice-Controlled Personal Assistant

According to a source at Recode, Google is working on its very own version of the Amazon Echo. The hardware device would integrate Google’s search and voice assistant technology into a package that will resemble its OnHub wireless router.

We don’t know the official name of the product, yet. Internally, though the project goes by “Chirp.”

While sources at Recode say the device is unlikely to launch next week at Google’s I/O developer conference, others are hopeful that we’ll get a sneak peek soon. If anything, Google is sure to highlight the newest developments in voice assistant tech used in its Android phones — beckoned by the words “Okay, Google” — along with virtual reality developments.

Despite conflicting reports, it seems that the “Chirp” should land at some point this year.
