New App Visualizes Your Instagram Color Scheme

New App Visualizes Your Instagram Color Scheme

Planning to revamp your Instagram feed for the new year? If you're thinking of sticking to a specific color palette to unify your feed, a new app called Year of Colour can help.

Created by Stef Lewandowski and Emily Quinton, a husband and wife team in London, Year of Colour shows you the colors you predominantly used on Instagram last year, and which ones were most popular with your followers.

To get your own report, just head here and sign in with Instagram. The developers said that Year of Colour won't post anything to your feed or "do anything with your account other than request a list of your public images."

Note that Year of Colour only works with public images, so if your account is private it won't work. Once you sign in, you can request a report for either all of 2018, the last month, or a particular date. The app then examines your public images from that period and creates a visualization of the dominant colors on your feed. Each circle represents one of the main colors in your images.

"The size of the circles indicates two things - how significant the colour was in the image, and how well liked it was by their followers," the developers explained. You can filter the results by significance and vibrancy, and order them by popularity or time.

Year of Colour is free, but if you're into it, you can subscribe to receive additional insights for $3 a month. Subscribers will receive a new color report at the end of each month.
